Government's RICA stupidity extending to internet access
A failed appeal for exemption from legislation that forces communications companies to register customers could see local Internet service providers (ISPs) pay a R2 million fine, or face a 10-year jail sentence. The Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act (RICA) got under way in June last year, leaving operators and ISPs with 18 months to collect customer documentation, including proof of residence and ID documents. Well great, as if the cost isn't crippling enough. Now you can't switch between ISPs without being officially registered with them.

Which brings up the point if you are using adsl doesn't rica already apply to the line rented from Telkom?
